Funeral Partners expands in Scotland with John Clark Funeral Service

John Clark Funeral Service has joined the Funeral Partners family of high-quality funeral businesses, becoming its fifth business in Scotland as it grows its presence in the country.

Founder John Clark worked in the funeral profession for six years in the 1990s before deciding to create his own funeral business following the death of his father in 2000.

John Clark Funeral Service started in 2001 to serve the North Lanarkshire community and its surrounding areas with an ethos of personal, professional and tailored service.

The business faced challenges in keeping up with overwhelming demand and soon outgrew its small premises, seeing John commit large amounts of personal funds to a bigger fleet and facilities.

John’s wife Ellen and sons Kevin and John Jr joined the business to lend a hand with the rapid growth. Kevin went on to earn an NAFD Diploma and join on a full-time basis, now operating as Business Principal.

The family-run business has strong community connections and sponsored a number of sporting activities in the North Lanarkshire community over the years, and also supports local churches. Both Kevin and John Jr look forward to continuing to support these organisations and their community outreach as government restrictions ease.

As John heads into retirement, he looks forward to seeing his sons continue the business’ ever-increasing reputation with the help of Funeral Partners. He said: “It’s gotten to a point where we need the support of a network to keep growing yet maintain a healthy work-life balance.

“Funeral Partners’ ethos of letting those in the funeral profession do what they do best is perfect for us. It’s down to John Jr and Kevin to help the business really reach another level.”

Tara Cameron, Regional Development Director at Funeral Partners, said: “John Clark Funeral Service is a welcome addition to the Funeral Partners family and the Scotland & North East England region.

“John has clearly invested a lot of time and personal funds into this business, and we will make sure his legacy continues the ethos of personal, professional and tailored service.”

Sam Kershaw, CEO of Funeral Partners, said: “North Lanarkshire is a new and exciting area for Funeral Partners. We welcome John’s hardworking family to the network and look forward to helping them continue serving their local communities.”
