Valuation Summary

The valuation range also known as the Enterprise Value is the value for the underlying trading business. In addition to the valuation range above, you would be paid an additional amount for:

Earn-out – an additional amount to reward former owners for the business’ continued success. The earn-out is paid based on exceeding a modest revenue forecast. This amount typically ranges from £100,000 to £400,000
Freehold property– an additional amount for the freehold value of the property (should you wish to sell this to Funeral Partners as part of the transaction). An independent RICS chartered surveyor will determine the value
Net Cash (Debt) and WCAP – in the event of a Share Sale the amount paid at completion will be increased or decreased by the Net Cash (Debt) in the Company and working capital adjustment. See FAQ’s for further detail

What is the Enterprise value?

This is the value for the underlying business irrespective of the level of funding required or existing in the business.

How does the Funeral Home valuation calculator work?

All businesses are different, so there is no set formula for valuing a business. The valuation calculator uses several simplified assumptions to calculate an estimated enterprise valuation range for your business. An actual valuation would depend on many factors not included above, such as the underlying adjusted profitability of the business, ongoing owner involvement, location, pre-need plan bank and so forth.

How does the Funeral Home valuation calculator differ from an actual valuation for my business?

The valuation calculator uses the summary information provided and is based on a series of simplified calculations. An actual valuation requires more detailed information with the valuation based on the Year 1 Adjusted EBITDA multiplied by an appropriate pricing multiple.

What is the Net Cash (Debt) and working capital adjustment

In the event of a Share Sale, at completion, there will be an adjustment to reflect the cash and debt in the business (cash will increase the value above, and debt will decrease it). If, for example, you have £200k of cash and £100k of debt in the business, the net cash position will be £100k and this will be added to the price paid for your business.

A working capital adjustment will also be included to ensure that the business has sufficient working capital (e.g. stock) to operate on a day-to-day basis going forwards.
